out and about

Storms River is Africa's adventure capital and a favourite destination for both local and international tourists.  In the heart of the Tsitsikamma National Park, the area's many attractions are so varied that there is something for everybody - from hiking, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching and making your way through the forest on horseback to bungy jumping, segway rides, treetop canopy tours and waterfall slides. Andelomi is within walking distance of the forest and most of the activities on offer.  We look forward to introducing you to the area.

TREETOP CANOPY TOURS

Enjoy a unique, eco-friendly adventure in the beautiful Tsitsikamma forest. Glide gently through the giant Outeniqua Yellowwood trees, as the cables guide you from treetop to treetop.

The scenery and birdlife is spectacular, and professional guides ensure your safety while pointing out the most interesting forest ecology.  If you are fortunate enough, you will spot a pair of Knysna Loeries or the bright red plumage of the elusive Narina Trogon.

BUNGY JUMPING

Dare yourself to endure the ultimate thrill.  216 meters above the Bloukrans River you will be given a countdown before making your way head first down towards the river.

TSITSIKAMMA FALLS ADVENTURE

This zipline tour takes you on 8 cable rides over the Kruis River and down a ravine over three waterfalls.  Each section has its own surprises, adventure, wonders and beautiful views. The river can be seen and heard throughout the tour with the longest slide being 211m and 50m above ground.

SEGWAY  TOURS

A segway tour offers you a different way to explore the area. The shorter tour takes you around the village and through the surrounding pine forests. The longer tour also includes a trip to The Big Tree which is definitely worth a visit.

All tours include a safety and training session so that you will feel completely comfortable on your segway before setting off on your adventure.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

The 22km long Storms River Village Mountain Bike Route winds its way through the Storms River Pass.  Follow the trail as you make your way down the 5km descent to the river, passing through indigenous forest and taking in beautiful views of the gorge.

If you've got the time, stop at the Old Storms River Bridge for a swim before heading out of the valley to the coastal plateau and on to the relatively flat section to the viewpoint overlooking Storms River Mouth, before returning to the village.

Mountain bikes are available for hire at Andelomi at the best rates in the village.

TSITSIKAMMA NATIONAL PARK
TSITSIKAMMA NATIONAL PARK

The Tsitsikamma National Park, with its diverse hiking trails, the Big Tree and beautiful sight-seeing opportunities are all within easy reach from Andelomi.  It is a fifteen minute drive to the Park and beach and, with the indigenous forest on our door step, we are ideally situated for you to explore the region.

BIRDS OF EDEN

Situated in Plettenberg Bay (a short drive from Storms River) is the beautiful Birds of Eden sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to just over 220 different species of African and exotic birds that fly freely in the expansive aviary.

The sanctuary has a canopy walk which offers a great view of the birds and it boasts a two hectare dome build over a gorge of indigenous forest.
